Succesful first steaming!!!

Post  highpressure on Sat 05 Nov 2011, 10:10 am

I am posting this on behalf of my pal at the end of the road who doesnt do Forums and the net and the like. I believe he is building this model at the mo and popped in to see me today to gloat over the fact that he has succesfully steamed the engine today for the first time. Apart from a few little niggles it all went well and he reports he struggled to keep the pressure below 120 such was the boilers efficiency. Most that was tight has now freed up a lot although he didnt attempt to drive it.

I wasnt allowed to partake as apparantly the first steaming should be a private affair to allow for any incidents to be contained without embarrassment, although I suspect the first steaming of mine the whole road will know about it......

I will try and get some piccys of it as the finish and lining have produced a first class model, one that STW should be proud of.

On behalf of Frank

Kev.

Hello again Foden builders, I have been to see my mate again today as it was such a nice day he decided to steam up again. Third time now, things loosening up nicely and all the little niggles sorted out. It will now run on as low as 10 psi as the motion starts to loosen up. Sign writing has been done by a good ol' fashioned sign writer using proper techniques. Anyone else at this point?? I commented to Frank that the Foden builders are very quiet on the forum....

Looking very nice. Are you getting a trailer or just going with the Tractor Tug?

Wonder if they will do a showman foden?
