Brake band

Post  atomenter on Fri 07 Oct 2011, 11:59 pm

Hi Craig
Does this mean that a new brake lining and screws etc will also be supplied? I have used my rear brake as a foot brake for a few rallies and haven't really noticed a problem (I will now have a closer look once I get back from holiday with the grandkids and will let you know)
Regards
Tom

dont know about lining and screws... but i doubt it.

all depends on the set up you have. the current set up on the control model, including the band, is all new and seems to put so much force on the band that it caused it to fail. it only took about four pushes on the pedal to do it !!!

I'm sooo glad I didn't glue my linings to the band, i'm still interested to see what happens to the axel boxes I do hope they dont fail as they are going to be a pig to change on a fully built Foden. Sad

Hi Ian
I can only think that it is the written word that comes out with the kits - presumably on how to put the parking brake bits together. Hopefully it will include the additional bracket for the steering column - I made a temporary one months ago.

yeah, it went today. bit of a delay due to Isabel being on holiday this week (chaos in the office affraid )

instructions... once the kit is made and fitted to the control model, the packing list / build instructions are reviewed, revised and printed. sometimes (not always) this can cause further delay to to everyone having 101 other things to do. Cool

Ah!!, I see all said the blind man well done Craig so hopefully all the bits should fit now then Smile this should give me something to play with this weekend when I get back home, and with the new manhole cover in place I wont be able to drop any more bits into the boiler Embarassed

Any chance of a photo of the new brake band Craig? I beefed up the ends of mine with turned steel sleeves so it will be interesting to see how the proper job looks.

Good news Craig,

Do you jave any news on the additional water tanks for the SWV version, I spoke to Steve about it just after STW moved to confirm these were still being fitted and this he confirmed and as we are rapidly approching the end of the build I wondered if the laser cuts had been ordered, i'm ready just trying to get an idea of there size and what needs to be left off before they are fitted and plumbed in.

Thanks for the good news Craig, just a quick question did you change the stud in the manhole cover as I have just gone to fit mine and find there is about 13mm of unthreded stud above the new clamp should it have had a new shorter stud??

i think two studs were supplied for the clamp (don't know why). i remember one of them was very long but i'm sure we used one or the other because we actually took them from a kit

Re: next foden kit

Post  craig@STW on Wed 21 Dec 2011, 10:25 am

OK, this is the only photo i have of the foden window kit. the wood was subbed out to a local carpenter and the rest of the kit was done in the manual section...

in this pic you can see the laser cut parts before bending. look beneath them and you will see the parts for the next kit. not actually sure what this is called but it sits on the rear of the model instead of the "flat bed" on the C type. manual are working on this now. I'll get some photos... promise Embarassed (if i don't feel free to pester me, seriously Cool )
