Sorry Tony, looks like your thread has been hijacked, a bit like Brian M did with mine once.

Kev/Andy

Wow that is a kind offer, you know where I am don't you, Lancashire. 31st May is the date, the weekend after the bank holiday and local Chipping Steam Fair also my wife has just booked the DJ/band!!! Blues Brothers tribute  Cool  This could be getting out of hand. I have contacted Brian M and Flashback about this too, could end up another STW event.

Anyone else interested may have to PM me or we will end up overrun like one of those parties you hear about that get mentioned on Facebook!!

Hi Tony

Shall I bring the kindling and coal with me to get that museum exhibit dirty. Even if it's just sprinkle some wood clippings and coal dust over the man stand?

Hi All,
Well I've finally got round to doing a bit more to my rather neglected engine!! So here are a few not very focused pics of progress!

I found a bit of old stair rod (steel tube covered in brass!) to which I soldered some "tags" to fix it to the chimney fixing bolts & this will carry the wires from the "exciter generator", safely past the "hot" smoke box ( I know, "What hot smoke box"???) to the power board:-

I've also cut the electrics board down by about 10mm on three sides & moved it forward a tad on the engine but left everything else untouched! To my eye it looks better smaller, as I others have commented!!:-

The next shots of canopy getting a bit of paint:-

The next bit of painting will be the lettering on the canopy, with help from Lynn & her printer thingy & inspiration from Tim!!

Regards,
Tony

Nice route for a solution to wiring the exciter. The plated steel tube will definately hold up to a bit of abuse.

Hi All,
I have now turned my attentions to the seat frame:-

However, having sat on the seat & making all sorts of "enginey" noises & pretending to drive it Laughing  I very quickly realized that it is going to be impossible to drive it safely, if at all, unless I can see the controls while sitting up looking where I'm going!! This means the the inevitable hole in the roof  Shocked which I desperately wanted to avoid, but has finally become a reality Sad  So here are pictures of the "carnage":-

The hatch slots into place & should allow rain to run off.... NOT that it's going to get wet.  affraid

Hope you all find photos of interest.... Still got that canopy lettering to do!!

Regards,
Tony

To be fair theres no point in hacking a hole in the roof to drive it unless you are actually going to light a fire in it!!! Drag it outside and set it ablaze!!!! It didnt take Andy that long to clean his up after the first few goes....  Smile Smile

YAH YAH !! VERY FUNNY!!..... But there's still a heap of things to do before she's ready to have water put in yet.. let alone a heap of paraffin soaked wood & filthy black coal & I'm determined to at least get all the paint & vanish on before it gets covered in steam oil!!... Lynn might well be coming round very soon, so I'll have to be on my guard in case she gets any ideas!! Shocked

Tony

Hi All,
I found a few minutes to do a little customizing job which I've been thinking about for a while:-

I my box of metal "crap" I found an old brass wheel hub casting for 1 1/2" Allchin rear wheel, add 22mm compression coupler fitting & bore a hole in the pretty bit on the generator belt drive "pully" & you have the makings of bit of personnel Showman's "glitz" Very Happy

As usual, I cant get my camera to focus close up!!! But you might just pick out "the bits":-

There, another little excuse for a delay in lighting a fire Laughing

Tony

Very nice touch Tony, many engines have that sort of relief on the driven pulley.
