Cylinder Block Assembly

Post  Dave Saunders on Thu 10 Mar 2011, 8:30 am

Hi Guys
I've just started the Cylinder Block Assembly, and have been looking at the various paint schemes. All of the pics I've looked at have nice "grey" shiny nuts and washers bolting the various bits on. What have other builders used. are they stainless steel, nickel plated, or just plain old fashioned "out of the packet" mild steel? I'd appreciate any comments and suggestions.

Nuts!

Hi Dave,
It's personnel preferance I reckon.
Some paint cylinder & all fixings black, others make a feature of the fixings, which is what I have done & because I don't want them rusting/ deteriorating I have used stainless washers & nuts. I have actually used dome headed nuts on valve chest cover & cylinder front cover, also on crank bearing caps!!
Looks good to me, but would probably upset the purists!!
Regards
Tony

Thanks Tony, I'll visit my locan fastener supplier and see what they have, but the dome heads do sound like a nice option.
