showmans kit 8
showmans kit 8 is the tender accessories. we are still waiting for the main castings but we have started work on the other parts (pics another time).
we did receive the prototype castings for the belly tank parts today. the water filler is a bit thin on the front edge so this will need to be thicker, but the other two look OK...

Lynn,
Try offering Craig a bribe you'll get as many kits as you need, I believe he is partial to an Indian!!

So that I can plan things. What would be my next 4 kits?
I may be in the position at the end of the month to be able to catch up a bit and buy 2 and most possible 3 kits.

the kits available to you are: kit 6, boiler deposit (unfortunately you don't actually get anything physical with this just yet). kit 7, Tender body. kit 9, Horn-plates and kit 17, belly tank.
don't know where Vapor heard about the Indian, I'm a fish and chips man all the way

Hey Craig
Most of those castings look like whats outstanding on the Bellytank kit but hey I'm not fussy either way. I like all the sparkly bits that make it look authentic. Did the castings also include the axletubes etc??
So Hows it looking for a delivery at the end of this month??

Re: showmans kit 8
yeah, those are the "rather late" castings from the belly tank kit. we have Axel tube castings at the factory but they are not in the next kit.
we have done everything we can on the next kit but without the castings arriving its all but useless. they should have been here by now
i'll have to see what dean and Steve plan to do

We're actually waiting for six different castings:
2 off brake arms
2 off brake shoes
1 off brake lever
1 off brake bracket
2 off small step
2 off large step
We're hopeful that we should receive them towards the end of next week.
Regards
Steve

Kit 8
Hi STW,
Any news on Kit 8 and castings from 17 and how is the boiler progressing? I think Craig was hoping to have a boiler tacked togehter around about now.
I'm sure you're really busy but info and pictures on progress seems a bit light over the last week or so. As usual I'm sure were all eagerly waiting updates.......
cheers
Rick

Re: showmans kit 8
we were told that the casting delivery would be with us today... but no luck, dont know if thats cos of the snow???
the boilers are going well. we have had to send one part out to be bent as our machine was just not up to the job and lee has been busy "perfecting" the process and making up the jigs required. all the plates need to be weld prepped and its a lot of work but progress has been made...

full updates tomorrow, i promise (unless i fall of my bike again

Re: showmans kit 8
we are nearly done on this one, we have had lots to do on the castings this last week.
here you can see the four steps...

the brake shaft and mounting bracket...

the brake arms on their final opp...

and mounted on the model...

we will also be sending the missing castings from the belly tank kit. these ones have been fitted "manually" as the control model has gone off to a show for the weekend...

also had a delivery of 5 cylinder block castings today. we need to fully machine these to prove out the casting before we order any more...

Deliveries
Yes it is that time of year for all the usual excuses.
Sorry delivery will be delayed. Its Christmas
Sorry delivery will be delayed. The snow
Sorry delivery will be delayed. It's the cold
And since we are now in defrost mode up in Scotland. (+1c) delivery will be delayed due to the flooding and the roads breaking up.

Re: showmans kit 8
all the work is now done on this kit and we have the boxes in. we are just waiting for some "brass" fasteners to arrive and then the kit will go.
should be this week.
here's the pipe mounting brackets...

and the name plates, now to be held on by screws because the "sticky pad" idea didn't go down too well
