thanks for reminding me Ian Cool

i just spoke to Isabel and the new supplier gave her a 2-3 week delivery time "as of last week". so we should have them some time this month.

we should have the next kit finished early next week so the probably won't be here in time to be included, but i guess we will send them out separately as soon as we get them Cool

Thanks Craig,

We we dont want to get to much further with the build as it will be a mamouth job to strip the block to fit them, out of curiosity what will the next kit consist of, lastly I note I have two different "kit 15's" in my build manual I know there was a change by Steve with numbering but can you find out which is the "real" kit 15 and what should be the number of the other kit.

Thanks
Ian

no kits not gone yet. we took some parts from stock to bulk up the kit but as the control model went together we found a few issues to sort out. need to make some new clevis's for the regulator. wont take long Cool

Ok thanks Craig, just a quick question the 6 studs that hold the cradle to the boiler are ofset does the longer or shorter thred screw into the boiler as if i screw in the shorter thred it will need trimming, secondly as these would need to be removed if i wanted to remove the cradle so i cannot see why studs were used when normal hex bolts will do, any answers appreciated.

i "think" its the shorter end into the boiler, thats how engine studs usually work, but steve may of had different ideas ???

don't know why bolts were not used, you would have to ask steve. usual answer is something like "cos its not the proper way to do it" Wink

i'll have to point steve towards these questions on Monday Cool

hopefully this kit will be going out on Wednesday.

the control model is 99% together...

and we found that the "fork" of this clevis was not deep enough, so we are making longer ones...

Looking good Craig, I cant wait, just a note to other Foden builders, I spoke to Steve yesterday regarding the studs that fix the boiler cradle to the boiler, the studs need to be fitted with the short thread screwed into the boiler with the long thread sticking out.

Just a word of caution these studs screw through the water jacket therefore will be subject to the heat and full working pressure of the boiler, it has been calculated that at full working pressure the water temp will be around 183deg C so be carefull what you use to lock/seal the studs with.

right, I've made a bit of a mistake on this kit. on the F41851-2 steam turret, i have got the 5/16x32 and 3/8x32 threads on the top, the wrong way round.

totally my fault as i made them. we are going to have to do a re-call to sort these out. I'm sure you will all be contacted soon.

unfortunately you will have to wait for these to be sorted before you can put the back-plate on the model.

sorry people Embarassed

(runs for the hills)

PS: i think we have also sent the wrong globe valves (not my fault pirat )
