Tyres and Masking tape
Hi All
If you use Scotch masking tape medium adhesion.... make sure you do not leave it on for more than 2 days. Mine has stuck to the tyres like the proverbial to a blanket. Spent 3 hours last night on one wheel. Still not got it off yet.

Re: Tyres and Masking tape
I did that but i found if you just put a bit of pe-wipe on it will get the glue and tape of just fine. Oh and gives the rubber a nice shine

making tape
Hi Lynn,
I sympathise - I had exactly the same problem. I eventually go it off with aerosol label remover then acetone! Took me a while. I then changed over to low tack tape from Craftmaster which you can bend round to follow the shape of the wheel rim, despite it being plastic based . I used it on the edges of the tyres to stick newspaper to it.
I then wrapped the remainder of the tyre in newspaper and used normal masking tape to cover that. So only the edges were actually stuck with tape. Big improvement.
cheers
Rick

Sorry its me having a brain fart. Forgot to include the "next day" to get items dispatched. Yup it takes 2 days for next day delivery this far north of of Englandshire. What is the lead time to Shetland???

Re: Tyres and Masking tape
Removing glue left over on the wheel ,a tip I picked up when putting in car upholstery was to use a cloth with small amount of light oil on it really works to get glue off carpet and leather so could not see why it should not work on rubber. Tried it on my front wheels to remove a small amount of residual glue from the masking tape, and worked a treat.
