yeah, the brake band has been machined at the same time as the tyre. the important thing now is that we get the spoke holes in the correct place in relation to these Shocked

just to point out, the rust is an unfortunate side effect of the vulcanising process, every wheel we send comes back like this Neutral

and the spokes arrived today, all five pallets of them affraid

still lots to do but we are trying to get the rolling chassis done by the end of the week. the boiler will be a hollow dummy and we need to make a temporary Axel but its coming on well Cool

Dont post a photo until after Dorset, that way we'll have something to look forward to and then you can put it up after for those who cant make it.

Post  Tony King on Wed 25 Aug 2010, 12:26 am

Hiya Craig,
I'd love to see the progress of the rolling chassiss, as there ain't no chance I can get down to Devon to admire the STW stand.
Be the way, you are doing a great job showing how you guys fabricate & machine all the various bits, really really interesting!!

we are so close to having the rolling chassis done now that it seems a shame to release any "half done" pics. hopefully i'll have photos of the finished item tomorrow and i'll PM them to anyone wants to see them. then i'll post them up on the forum as soon as people have been to the Dorset show.

but i have got a little something for you. the first wheel is now complete and the second one is about 80% done.

we have been working on the dummy Axel, making two blanking plates to create the right sized hole in the right place...

and we will be cutting a length of 50mm bar in the morning, and using a series of collars to locate everything it the right places. like i said, it so close now even im getting excited !!!

and yes, it does look rather impressive Cool

Theres a couple of spokes in this kit then???? Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Seriuosly though the hub covers look really crisp... This is starting to get exciting and I cant wait to get to GDSF I might even implode on the stand when I see this thing Razz Razz lol!

I am at the point where I cut and ran on the 2nd batch agricultural so up till now I have seen this before but after the wheels kits its new to me so really looking forward to that. Good to see that the earlier issues with casting deliveries havent really pushed the schedule back too far as well.

Your not at Dorset then Craig?

there is nothing i would enjoy more than a weekend in a caravan in Dorset (seriously) Cool

but 30 seconds in the STW caravan is too much for any self respecting person affraid affraid

to be honest, one on one people skills are not something i was blessed with and i really do have a bit of a people phobia.

... and the fact im needed back at the factory Wink Wink

Hi Craig

Is there any pictures of the mockup that went to Dorset as surprising enough I can not get there to see it in the flesh so to speak.
