Sounds like the clack valve is not sealing

Hi mark does that mean hitting the ball bearing in the clack valve

Yes
normally a tap with a punch on the top of the ball will do it
start with a light tap and if that does not work try a wee bit harder
Its best NOT to do it on the boiler but on a bench so your not putting pressure on the boiler

Try closing the valve on the clack to see if that stops the steam, this will prove if it is a problem with the ball.

Get hold of a few spare stainless steel balls from eBay, if you glue a ball to a short length of rubber hose or a piece of dowel you can lap the valve seat in with fine valve grinding paste or time saver lapping compound rather than resorting to the crude method of hitting it with a punch and hammer.... Make sure you give the boiler a good wash out as any SH1T will add to the difficulties of getting the clack to seal.
