Cylinder - studs for front cover

Post  parador on Tue 17 Oct 2017, 6:38 pm

I've screwed in the 8 M6*20 engineering screws into the cylinder and also fitted the M6*25 grub screws. The exposed threads of the 8 engin. screws are all about 1/8" longer than the exposed grub screws if you know what I mean. I am guessing they should all finish the same length which suggests I need to screw the engin.screws a bit further. Is this correct or do I cut to the same length as the grub screws?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but the instructions say "be careful not to over tighten" hence my paranoia about stripping the threads.

All advice gratefully received

Hi

No question is stupid if you do not already know the answer.

You need to measure the studs and cut them to length, preferably off the block. When tightening the studs do not get too enthusiastic.

Thanks Lynn

They're in the block already so I will use the electric file. Surprised the cutting to length was not mentioned in the instructions.
