What to do next

Post  mariserve on Wed 05 Jul 2017, 4:24 pm

I am getting near the end of my 2" Burrell and wonder what I can build next.
I think it will be hard to replicate the outstanding quality from STW and the joy I am getting.
I live in Florida and do not want to go to a 4" model, too big to handle.
A loco seems the only alternative, perhaps a Polly?

Any ideas out there?

I have the same dilemma. I did think of getting a used 5"scale locomotive which needed restoring. The only issue would be sorting the parts. I dont know of any other companies that do these kits like STW. its a shame yhat the 2" only came in one model.

Polly is great company, just in the later stages of building a Polly 6, no problem with the kits just a few parts not being a 100% perfect, all part of the fun of the build, support has been brilliant and Matt is always on the end of the phone and Jayne is also very helpful with regards to my delivery requirements, as for living in Florida no problem as I live in the Middle East and had no problem being out of the country, also the VAT exemption was not a problem.

Good luck and go for the POLLY

Thanks for the review of Polly. I'm going to visit them when I visit U.K. In September.
Right now getting closer to air testing, so still a month or two to go.

We (wife in the main) built a Polly 1 but that was when they came from the original company, cant say we had any issues, nice build and even the Polly 1 is a strong little engine, we only sold her in the end as we got fed up having to take her somewhere with track, where as a traction engine doesnt need rails Cool
But the Polly's are nice engines with scope for little mods here and there.

Thanks LiveSteam. There's no chance of finding a 5" track in Florida. All the US gauges are different to U.K!
Looks like a rolling road Polly is my best option.
Wish STM make something else for size challenged builders.
