Ptfe tape or paste

Post  Chrs777 on Mon 29 May 2017, 7:12 am

HI. Just wanted your opinions on whether to use tape, or paste when fitting the cylinder block to the boiler on the threaded studs ?

Use graphite paste such as Foliac on the studs and the gasket, applied with a paintbrush. Spread it evenly on the boiler barrel then fit the gasket, apply another coat on top of the gasket then fit the cylinder block tightening the studs from the top outwards.

Thanks. I'm going to put liberal amounts of foliac on,
Just reading the instructions and it says to use ptfe,
I want to make sure that I get it right first time.

He is using paste. Seems there are some that use ptfe paste , some use tape, or no ptfe, just foliac.
In my instructions it says use tape. I think I will do that. Thanks for the replys.
