Big end oiler

Post  bazzer on Sun 16 Apr 2017, 7:18 pm

I have read on the Forum that when running, oil tends to be thrown out of the Big End oiler, I have tried a simple fix that seems to work.

Small amount of steel wool pressed into the cap stops the oil coming out but also allows the oiler to breathe.
I have only run my engine on air with this but seems to work ok.

Another option I've seen is a bit of wick wool with a knot tied in the end pushed through the hole so the knot is on the, although negates any filling through the hole as some do, I tend to unscrew mine and fill and then screw it back on, that way I know all the caps are secure.
