I am signed up for the new batch of Lika's but wondering if anyone knows of any agreed changes yet?

I know there is going to be changes with the boiler, motion gear and brakes but does anyone know what yet?

I spoke to Dean when I placed my order... He mentioned they were going to have a meeting about the Boiler 'in a few weeks' since the meeting had to be pushed back. He did mention to me that they are leaning to make it much more like the original... including burners etc. which made me happy! But then again all that was still in the air since they had yet to have the meeting.

I am sure Dean or Steve will post all changes once they have finalized the design.

That is very exciting news!!!!

It would be amazning if the boiler and burners could be more like the original.

Did the original boilers have self regulating water levels? or is that way too early still?

The so-called 'Feed Water Automatic' was only introduced by the Stanley Brothers in 1915. But I think it would be fairly easy to equip a Likamobile with one. I daresay many pre-1915 Locomobiles and Stanleys have one by now.

Neutral Hello everyone,
Time is passing and I have not heard anything directly from Steam Traction World since they acknowladged the receipt of my deposit.
They did update their web page in June so I thought that it was time to remind them that we are partners with an interest in the new Lykamobile Series2 project.
So I sent the email below with hopes that we will all be kept better informed.

"Hi Nick,
Back in June we heard that 18 of us have now reserved a Series Two Lykamobile, I think I might be number 11.
With confirmed orders from as far afield as Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Philippines, and the US.
Please can you send an update on progress and likely start date to your 18, or more, potential Lykamobile builders.
I am sure the others would appreciate some news.
You could post something to the STW Owners Likamobile Forum if you did not want to write to each of us.

Looking forward to hearing from you as I am about to sell my 5inch gauge steam loco to help pay for the Lykamobile project.
Best regards"

I appreciate that a balance has to be found between practical work on the project and the PR.
I am sure we don't want to divert the team from the practical element but there is currently very little PR.
I hope the balance can be quickly restored and maintained with the occasional brief update to the Forum.

new lika

Post  jjtjr on Sun 16 Oct 2016, 5:08 am

Since the lika was produced and sent out to the field, changes were made both in the factory and in the field. Field testing is important as it represents real life use. Since the lika isn't the only product the STW makes, I would think they have limited resources on some detail to refine the car and its operation. This is where I hope STW will take the steps to reach out to owners and see what changes they made to improve the build and reliable of the car. At that time they could review the data and decide which changes were necessary.   This is just my opinion as an owner.
