Cylinder block

Post  ChriX on Thu 02 Jul 2015, 3:05 am

Just as a heads up, before you fit the 4x10 grub screw, check the oil feed passage is not blocked. Mine had a lump of what looked like swarf mixed with casting sand stuck in the bottom, it would have been very difficult to unblock after I had sealed the grub screw in and filed it flush! I used Loctite 567 for this as well as the BSP plug in the bottom.

Tim does your blower feed cut through the path for the cylinder drain? I notice on all the SCCs I have looked at the blower feed is normally on the other side of the block nearer the valve chests presumably to skirt around this issue. I am assuming Steve has some solution planned to line the holes!

Yes mine is the same. Not quite sure what he has planned for this issue.

So I was cleaning up my block today prior to painting and I saw this:

Is that going to be ok ? Or will that cause me problems ?

I would not worry about it, the gasket will still seal the joint.

Paid a visit to STW towers last week and had the mod done on my cylinder block to sort the intersecting holes. All ready for fitting to the boiler now as soon as I get a cylinder gasket!
