tools required?

Post  phil gomez on Wed 19 Nov 2014, 2:13 am

What tools do you guys and girls recommend for the construction of the Foden?
Are the bolts metric or imperial?
As people how have built and are building them what would you recommend i.e. specialist tooling?

Phil.

As it says on the tin.
Hand tools only.

I think I put a list of tools I have used up before. But just in case.

Couple files, Flat, round and a rat tail.
Metric comb spanners
Small socket set would help.
Soft face hammer,
Screwdrivers.
Vice grips.

Grinder or pistol drill with flap wheels for deburring etc.

You do not require any major expense on tools or any specialist dodahs.

There is nothing wrong with nice new shiny tools - the bigger and shinier the better! Very Happy
But, thanks lynnr for the list.
I was also thinking about taps - removing paint from holes and things like that?

Im also making a 2" Clayton wagon for the last two years so i have got through quite a lot of the stuff and plasters, fingers but still got the same wife - mind you a garage widow now.  Very Happy

A fridge full of beer is handy.

I would add a set of metric taps and holder for cleaning out threads after you have put seven coats of paint on them. A set of tee-bar allen keys speeds things up, but you need a normal set as well and may have to cut some of them down to fit into corners.
