Doing something different!

Post  lynnr on Sun 09 Nov 2014, 6:15 am

Hi All

When not tending to Crystal I have been beavering away at another project.
Refurbishing a CNC Mill control unit for a friend.

It came as a bit of a mess!

Why???

Box gutted.

Taking it all apart.

Making heads and tails of it.

Trial fit of parts.

Some safety features missing from the original.

It did not even have one of these!

Layout

Oh for a CNC Mill to cut all the holes.

IS this neat enough?

Thank you Tony

Bit more progress.

Now started the finer wiring before the 6A LV power cables.

The green and brown pair are for any possible expansion in the future as the control board can have another limit signal.

Very nice Cool

Can I suggest a small improvement, you may have already got one or even thought of it, but I couldn't see one in the photos.

Try and pop some kind of filter on the air intake if you can, having made a similar control unit (although not quite as manic as that one) I was amazed at how much crud it managed to ingest in a fairly short time in the workshop,
Just a thought........far easier to clean a filter than clean out the controller 6mths later.......as I found Rolling Eyes .........filter now fitted, takes all of 2mins to wash the crud off it now.

There will be a filter in front of the fan at final assembly..

Nearly there. Just to check every connection for errors. Then it's shrink all the heat shrink and button up for the last time.
