Got some work done.

Had a steam leak from around the sight glass area. Upon inspection, someone forgot to thread seal the boiler end of the extension tube.

Why I always take the valve covers off after each test steam.

Casting sand.

Then It started to snow.

So drop the fire and clear out the pressure.

Very atmospheric.

Steady progress.

HP side buttoned up as satisfied with the valve slide and regulator.

Took the starter valve apart again and smacked the ball again. Much deeper and even seat now. Also stretched the spring a bit.

Refitted with Alan bolts instead of hex. Seconds to fit instead lots of minutes!

LP side still off to test the starter valve again and now the HP back on. Hopefully get a nice blast through the cross passage and make sure it is all cleared out.

Hope to start the fire this afternoon.

More remedial work done and another steam testing.

Checking HP timing and the steam cross passage. Also checking the starter valve. Found the problem with it. The reach rod was .5mm too long. So removed and an extra bit of threading done and presto fully functional.

Then button up the LP side and she is running quite well.

Couple problems. Mech pump ram needs a polish to remove the squeak and the mech eccentric is still fouling the timing eccentric.

No pictures today. Sorry.

Been fettling things. Got the water pump and LP eccentrics to not be so cuddly and sit a bit further apart.
Safety valves are off back to Steam Traction World for fettling and recalibration. The rear trumpet letting past with any pressure.

So no steam testing for a few days. Crystal might get a treat and have some attention lavished on her for a change. I did put all her plugs back in the other day so the only thing needed to get her in to steam is fit the pressure gauge again.

Done a test steam yesterday. Went well. Need to take the sight glass apart totally. It's leaking now, so I suspect no sealant.

Measured the expansion quadrant wile at 180psi and cut the slots this evening.

Hi All

Got another test steaming in today. In steam for 6 hours and never below 150psi.

Got a few videos and a couple pictures.

The steam injector works very well indeed.

She is a bit knocky but will adjust out over time. Still running in.

Then we had a bit of a storm.

Pressure coming up nicely

Reverser quadrant ready for action.

Then the hail.

Just waiting for RSA to sort themselves out.

Not said this in a long time.

Oh goodie! Parcel on its way from Steam Traction World. More building to do.
Winch drum will be here tomorrow or next.

Just need the steam test performed so I can return the engine on my planned date of 1st May.

Drum roll please.

Sorry winch drum roll please.

Spent the morning fitting the winch drum. Yesterday afternoon was fitting the drive dog assembly.

By the way. You can fit the gear guard before the winch drum as there is no interference.

So other than revisiting the sight glass. Still leaking a bit and tighten things up a bit more.

She is done.
