Burrell 2" tender issue

Post  jamesa on Fri 23 May 2014, 11:15 am

Hi this is my first post so i will start off by saying hello.
I am after some advice from those that have already completed the tender kit.
As you can see from the images when you use the pre drilled holes on the beading that there is a gap around the rear bend of the tender.
I was wondering if anybody else had this issue and if it is supposed to be like that and what was your solution.

if so do i use metal filler before i cut the screws and profile the beading or do i re position the holes on the tender sides to get a tighter fit on the rear ?

Any advice would be welcome !

Burrell 2" tender issue

Hi, on mine I re-drilled the holes in the beading at the rear of the tender. There are some photos in the photo section. Hope this helps and good luck with the build.

Hi James, I have just done my tender,I had a slight gap on the bends but did not re drill, I filled the gap with a bit of JB Weld.
There are a couple of pictures on my thread on here.
Have a look a see what you think.
I will post another top view later to show the corner a bit better.
Enjoy

Hi S-R, Thanks for the reply as the brass was pre bent i done what you suggested and it worked out great. Very Happy
I screwed it to the tender sides and using a soft faced hammer formed it around the rear curve and re positioned the holes on rear.
I also had a look at your photos, its looking great ! you have nice workshop there.
cheers james

Good morning Steve H, I had a look at images yesterday while i was looking if anybody else had the issue.
Your getting on well
I have now sorted after following sherwood rangers advice.
have you come across any other issues whilst building the tender ?
It would also be nice to get the next kit so that i can seal up the water tank etc.

Cheers, no other issues other than a  couple of countersinks that the factory had missed on the rear where the the tow strap sits but after a quick call to Steve at STW all sorted.
Waiting for the Rear wheel kits so that I can get on with the tyre fitting and sealing the tank

I am half way through building my tender and have the same issue. I figured a spot of Emetal or equivalent won't hurt and by the time I've slapped a few coats of craftmaster on there no one will notice.
