Front belly tank bracket.

Post  sonick45 on Mon 10 Mar 2014, 1:41 pm

I'm having a head scratching moment.....

Having changed the hornplate brackets to the newest incarnations I have this evening gone to fix the tank to the engine for the final time only to find the bracket at the front no longer marries up with the holes on the boiler.

I'm sure I'm not the first to have this issue but can't find a complete solution to the question.

I have the new bracket which has a slot rather than several holes but due to the moving of the tank forward it now misses the rear holes not in the boiler.

Was another bracket supplied by STW which I haven't received.?

Nick

Your boiler may be one that had the holes in the wrong place in the boiler, or something like that, my memory is fading with age. My bracket was an STW modified one with the boiler mounting holes on a piece welded either fore or aft of the main bracket to align with the boiler holes.

Check out the picture at the top of page 15 of my build thread where the cylinder has been removed, you can see the bracket below and the boiler fixing holes are in front of the main bracket area. Steve knows what happened here, you may just have to give him a dimension regarding how far away the holes are.
