How to post picture - SIMPLE - uploads pictures from your hard drive

Post  Julia on Mon 23 Jun 2008, 1:17 pm

Posting images of this forum is very easy. I have given a painfully detailed account below - expert users just click on the "Host an image" button and follow your instincts. Very Happy

There is no need to find somewhere to store the pictures on the internet as pictures are automatically loaded onto servimg.com . . . . All you need to know is where you picture is stored on your hard drive.

1) Click on the Host an Image Icon

BTW: to get this screen clik either the newtopic or postreply button.

2) This will make a Servimg.com box appear

3) Click on the Browse Button....

4) A standard windows file selection dialogue will appear
Use this to find and open your picture.

Tip: You can make Windows display thumbnails of your picture by clicking the View Menu Button (I maked it with a * in picture above) and select thumbnails

5) Upload image to servimg.com using "Host it"
Click on the "Host it" button. This will start the upload to Servimg.com

6) Copy Gobbledygook into your post
This is perhaps the hardest step. The text in the centre box under image needs to be copied to your message. The easiest way to do this is to click inside this box - it should go blue. Now click and hold inside the box and drag it over to the left into the message window and then release your click. I can't get the copy buttons to do anything useful; perhaps it works in internet explorer.

7) Check it worked

If the Gobbledygook copied correctly you will have something ling this is your message. You will not see your picture yet but if you hit preview it should be displayed.

Code:
[url=http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=10&u=12564974][img]http://i46.servimg.com/u/f46/12/56/49/74/clip510.jpg[/img][/url]

I hope this helps. Please let me know if I have anything misleading or wrong.

David

I have put my reply into a "code boxes" ignore them (they are to stop the computers reading my examples!

Code:

After you have inserted the picture you will see Gobbledygook something like this :-
[url=http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=10&u=12564974][img]http://i46.servimg.com/u/f46/12/56/49/74/clip510.jpg[/img][/url]

The text between [url=http:.... and .....[/url] contains instructions to tell the computers to display your picture.  Think of it as a place holder that says put my picture here.

Anything you type on lines before [url=http:.... will appear above your picture
Anything you type on lines after ....[/url] will appear below your picture
Do not type anything on the lines containing the Gobbledygook
Code:

----------------------  here is an example -------------------

[url=http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=12&u=12564974][img]http://i46.servimg.com/u/f46/12/56/49/74/pr10.jpg[/img][/url]

This caption can be jazzed up by
    1) selecting it (so it goes blue)
    2) Clicking on one of the formatting buttons
    3) this can be repeated reselecting the text each time.
Code:

----------------------  here is an example -------------------

[url=http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=12&u=12564974][img]http://i46.servimg.com/u/f46/12/56/49/74/pr10.jpg[/img][/url]

Below is the above example but this time somewhere where the computers can read it.

How do you post videos without signing up to Utube or other sites?

Craig

Can this be put as a sticky at the top of the photos section. Will make it easy for everyone to find then.

Many thanks
