Bowser tyres

Post  busman on Sat 30 Nov 2013, 12:31 pm

Recieved kit for water bowser today, and 1st thing I noticed was that the tyres supplied are not joined . Reading through instuctions makes no mention of joining together . Does anyone have experience of this process ,do I trim the ends so they are square and what is the best super glue to use as the last time i looked in B@Q there were a couple of dozen to choose from.

Hi

I think you have a problem. The tyres should be joined already and sized correctly to stretch on. Best contact Steam Traction World on Monday. Also don't do anything to the rubber until you check with Steve on the way forward.

After losing one off my bowser tyres earlier this year I send them out for vulcanisation.
As I also found a small gap in the joint off my  frond tyres I may consider to  let them redo by vulcanisation to. The rear tyres where delivered by STW with vulcanised rubber.  If I should built another engine I would  go for vulcanised tyres for both, front and rear.

After speaking to STW, Isobelle informed me that they will send the Tyres out unjoined . Have today super glued them and will now wait a couple of weeks before levering them onto rims. Another question to anyone having used Isoflex did you use the primer 1st on inside of bowser?
