Back to Wheels

Post  Tim Pennett on Sat 22 Jun 2013, 2:03 pm

Hi Folks,

Iím a bit behind the power curve on building, but I have been giving some thought to the wheels, the fillet filler on the Tee Rings to be more precise.

The instructions state car filler and I see some have used JB Weld; however, on the YouTube clip for STW I noticed Steve Trail using Pinkgrip, which seemed a good method of application via a sealant gun. Whilst at B&Q looking for metal filler I spotted some Evo-Stick Liquid Metal, which is sold as an adhesive. Does anyone have any experience of this, and would it be a suitable material to use?

The bench mark has been set by some very fine examples and any advice would be welcomed.

Hi Tim,

I used Plastic Padding Chemical Metal, which went on well and has created a good finish. I have not yet finished the build so do not know if it will stand the test of time and use.

On the first wheel I used flexible body filler but found this cracked off when the rivets were hit home. †After that I used J B Weld and didn't have the same problem again.
