The Next 4" Engine - Burrell Single Crank Compound

Post  Steam Traction World on Fri 08 Mar 2013, 3:50 pm

Hi All,

Now the Road Loco and Showman's are almost complete and the wagons that suit them have started being shipped it was time for us to consider our next 4" scale release.

We are pleased to announce that the newest addition to the STW range will be a 4" Scale Burrell Single Crank Compound. This engine will be available as a Road Loco version (solid flywheel, belly tank, motion guards) or as an Agricultural Engine (spoked flywheel, no belly tank or motion guards). Working pressure for the boiler will be 180 psi.

As with all new releases an offer will be in place for the first ten orders received. This will reduce the normal list price of 17699 by 2733 down to 14966. Further information below:

Deposit: 495. (after first ten the deposit will be 995)
Kits 1 - 29: 499 each. (normally 576)
Total: 14966.

The price above includes UK VAT and mainland delivery and also includes vulcanised rear wheels which is normally an optional extra priced at 493.50. This actually takes the total discount to a massive:

3226.50

The Agricultural version will have one kit less and therefore will be 499 cheaper.

The photographs below should give you some idea of what the engine will be like.

Here's an agricultural. Don't know why it doesn't appear to be showing the whole image.

Once again a very good choice of engine, somewhat uncommon in miniature, for the moment!! How much do I get back for a trade in against a finished DCC??? Very Happy Might be worth me taking it up.... Had I gone for a SCC on the agricultural I might not have done the DCC.

Guys, Im sure you will make an excellent job of the 4SCC dont know if I would be allowed another one after the DCC! Whilst you are the design stage could I ask you to consider making it double pinned on both the rear hubs and to improve the perch bracket in order to set it apart from the rest.

Do you have dimensions yet?
what size is this going to be, same as the DCC or as the Single cylinder?

thanks Jon

Hi Jon,

Sorry, must have missed your question. It will be very similar in size to the Agricultural engine. Slightly bigger diameter boiler with increased working pressure and very slightly longer in length but not too much.

Doogle,

The price alone should tip you over the edge, you've got all the benefits of the Agricultural engine (size, proven engine) coupled with more power, higher working pressure & extra water capacity of the DCC engine, so the best of all worlds at an offer price below the current list price of the Agricultural.

A winner all round that won't lose money.Very Happy:D

All the best

Dean

Hi Storey,

Not sure if you called today as I went home with either a stomach bug or food poisoning.

Did some one sort you out? If not then email me your number to dean@steamtractionworld.co.uk and I will call you tomorrow at a time convenient to you.

I'm on board with this one after a lot of pondering - can't wait to get started now though. When do we get our own section? Very Happy
