Just signed up!

Post  Villa John on Fri 23 Nov 2012, 1:12 pm

I have after some years of dithering ordered a 2" Burrell. Am looking forward to the first kit due December. In fact can hardly wait!

I've not long joined in on a 2" build myself. Just started the first kit. Exciting times!

Kit delivery / progress

Post  Villa John on Wed 10 Apr 2013, 12:51 pm

I now have received kits 2, 3 and 4 but with the weather so cold and wet have still not started my build. This is causing a tiny tiny problem as they are residing indoors so as not to get colds and rust. Roll on the summer! Is anyone round about my stage of construction {for a better word)?

Cheers all

John.

After a bit of a layoff, due to one thing and another, (moving house 450km away) plus finding a user friendly boiler inspector and a user friendly club, I have restarted the build. The Boiler Inspector is happy and will , upon satisfactory testing, allow us to run at 100psi. Having put it all together once, then taking it apart to paint it, starting again after 2 years is not as daunting, I know where most of the bits go and what not to bolt up first plus I will not have to spend time making bits fit. First step is get another pressure test and as it has already been tested to 220psi, the Inspector is happy to do another at 120psi. Then when that is ok, I can then get it to firing stage and he will do another test at 100psi on steam. Then 12 months later, another test at 100psi on steam, the test certificate is then good for 5 years. What is quickest, building a full size engine or a model? Ha ha. Chris, Australia
