2" Burrel Builders first question!

Post  made-in-england on Tue 17 Jul 2012, 11:58 am

Hello All,

I am building the 2" Burrell. I am upto kit 3 and kit 4 is due this month for me. I have not started building yet but have started looking at my wheels. I want to replace the rivet bolts with real rivets. What is the best choice of the three to do this with.. Copper, Brass or Iron? I am unsure so hopefully somone has done similar.

I hope you can answer this and, im sure, many more questions to come.

Regards

2" build

Hi Will

I would stick with the STW plan as it's tried & tested & works. To make the rivets look more realistic you could put a blob of epoxy on the nut side to round them off a bit more. If you are determined to use conventional rivets they need to be steel ones.

Steve

Hi Steve,

Many thanks for that. I happen to have found out that the secretary of my club has built a 2" STW Burrell and used real rivets for the wheels. I will contact him to ask more details.

Many Thanks

Will
