2inch burrell

Post  Graeme81 on Sat 30 Jun 2012, 7:12 am

Dean / Steve
Do you / would you supply the 2inch burrell as a complete unmachined project. That is supply everything from the boiler to all castings etc completely unmachined but with a set of machinest drawings to allow customers to machine themselves?
if you did what price range would you be talking?

I would think it unlikely that STW would be able to comply with your request, even if for no other reason than they machine almost all the parts from solid at this scale so to get a kit of "unmachined bits" would probably be pile of solid metal blocks & a copper boiler!
I'm probably speaking out of turn here, so you'd need to get a reply from Steve or Dean.
Regards,
Tony

thats what i was kinda wondering myself but having hot really seen one up close in too much detail (except the one in the trade stand at dorset a few years back) i wasnt too sure if most parts were from castings or machined from soild.
just like the idea of having a go at maching myself and there are actually not too many 2 inch models out there that are 'straight forward'. the 2inch thetford town would be nice but not really a good engine for beginners. 1.5inch allchin would also be nice but i have my heart set on a good 2 inch model. (and besides if it aint a burrell or Ransomes i dont wanna know Wink )

i do like the MJ burrell but i think with my limited experience in model building i might try to do a single crank engine first. have actually been in talks with a chap about a pride of the road marshall 3 inch. just 3 inch is getting near the limits of my tom senior milling machine...
