Model registration

Post  atomenter on Tue 17 Apr 2012, 2:05 pm

Hi Folks
Took all the required forms to the DVLA in Edinburgh last week. Back over to the office today with the Foden as they had to witness the fact that I had stamped a VIN on the chassis. They suggested that I used the boiler number and then they checked that this was a unique number (don't think that Traction Egines need this!!) The only other slight delay that I had was that I had to provide written assurance to DVLA as to the fact that it could not exceed 20mph. This was provided by STW, thanks Steve. Came home with the tax disc - number plates tomorrow, then try to figure out where to fit them!!

The staff at DVLA were very helpful and interested in the engine. The only other one that they had done was my mates miniature Sentinel last year so it's not as though they see a lot of steam.

Awra best

Nice one Tom

Another good outcome at the DVLA.
So that makes Edingburgh and Inverness trained in the steam ways now. Very Happy
On the stamping of a VIN on the chassis. Foden has a separate chassis where a traction engine the boiler is the chassis ergo the boiler number plate is the VIN on the chassis. Inverness accepted this on the form as I put the boiler number as the VIN.

Reregistration

Post  atomenter on Sun 10 Mar 2013, 1:04 am

Hi Folks
Just had my road tax reminder from the DVLA for the Foden and completed the form on line and it seems to have worked, disc is being sent out. It may be more difficult once it is 3 years old and in theory will require an MOT, but at the moment no problems.
Ready for another year on the road (for a few miles at least!!) Very Happy Smile

Regards

Tom
